Thailand: Cultural Immersion

Known for its tropical and exotic beaches, Thailand also offers its visitors a rich cultural experience. The Thai culture is as abundant in religion and customs as the country is in breathtaking views. Visit the “land of smiles” and explore the treasures of this tropical country.

Wat Chalong

Visit one of the largest and most visited of Phuket's temples. Come to admire the walls and ceilings beautifully decorated with paintings depicting the life of Buddha. Marvel at the many golden statues, and climb to the top floor terrace for a bird’s eye view over the extensive temple grounds. Keep in mind the strict dress code when visiting all Buddhist temples; guests must leave their shoes outside the temple, cover their shoulders and knees, and maintain a certain level of respect while inside the temple.

Floating Markets

Every tourist visiting Thailand must pay a visit to one of the floating markets; it's an experience you just can't miss out on. A wide range of unique souvenirs, clothing, sweets and treats are always available for purchase in this iconic setting. There are floating markets located near Bangkok and Phuket, and more can be found in other parts of the country. Phuket’s floating market is relatively new, and is modest in size, but boasts an array of shops and vendors in tiny boats.

Phuket Old Town

Shining with personality, this historically rich part of town is home to many shrines, temples, ornate and beautifully preserved shophouses, cafes, printing shops, and private and public museums. The old town of Phuket is the perfect size for strolling around. Don’t forget to pop into one of the several restaurants and cafes for a nice refreshment.

Theatre

Thailand is famous for its impeccable dancers. For the Thai people, dance is the main form of dramatic arts. With intricate costumes and stunning choreography, these performances are absolutely breathtaking. Shows can be found in essentially every major city, so be sure to check out the local theatres.
