Movie Stars and Michelin Stars in LA
Top 3 best Michelin-starred restaurants in Los Angeles
Los Angeles is a food connoisseur’s heaven. You would be hard-pressed not to find a venue that didn’t stir every one of your senses. The city is home to hundreds of restaurants, 27 of which hold one or more coveted Michelin stars.
We have chosen to highlight three of the best restaurants LA has to offer at which you may indulge in extraordinary meals. The number of Michelin stars carried by the restaurants are beside their names:
Providence **
From beginning to end, you will have a “wow” experience at Providence. Be prepared to spend at least three hours relishing every mouth-watering bite at this modern American seafood restaurant. Co-owner and Chef Michael Cimarusti’s award-winning fare first comes from procuring the freshest, finest ingredients. In fact, Providence has been consistently included among the top 50 best seafood restaurants by Gourmet magazine. The eatery is so popular that it’s nearly impossible to get a reservation and people usually have to wait for months, but when you travel with LVH we can get you into these very trendy dining hotspots at the best tables.
Pristine, white tablecloths with impeccably-folded napkins await you as does a relaxed, lively atmosphere, a bar with a passionate mixologist fashions unique cocktails. New beverage offerings are so loved that whenever new ones are launched, LA cocktail enthusiasts can’t wait to try them. Autumnal décor and hues also mark Providence as a discreet place to dine.
On the palate: You might want to start with the infamous and delicious uni egg, sea urchin, champagne beurre blanc and brioche croûtons. Follow this unique appetizer with the chef’s tasting menu including such dishes as gently warmed oysters with golden kaluga caviar, Norwegian king crab with sweet pea, sea urchin in aged ham broth, or duck with eggplant, salsify and duck sausage, A5 Wagyu beef with black truffle. Dessert: Foret noire Hawaiian chocolate and cherry.
There is no doubt a city as glamorous and glitzy as LA merits an ultra-elegant place to call home while you’re there. To say Penthouse Zeus fits the bill is an understatement. This ultra-luxe home is everything contemporary and chic about downtown LA. Gorgeous limestone and marble accents complement exceptional depths of walnut, ash, and oak. Sleek glass and shiny metal accents imbue the interiors with a delectable cosmopolitan glamor. A 165-foot pool and expansive hot tub grace an exquisite terrace, soaring above the city's most iconic skyscrapers. An additional catering kitchen on the rooftop terrace pushes the limits of highlife entertaining.
Mélisse **
Dining at Mélisse is like watching an outstanding art performance. You won’t find shared plates here, converted warehouse dining or vegetables in cocktails, but what you will find is an unforgettable meal from a tasting menu only. There are perfectly starched white tablecloths on round tables, people dressed in suits and creative plates akin to works of art. Mélisse is old school, but far, far away from old-fashioned. You have the option of the four, seven or 10-course tasting menu which contain some classics like foie gras, caviar and truffles.
The dining experience at Mélisse is as it should be – unhurried with every bite savored and relished. Chefs Josiah Citrin and Chef Ken Takayama employ modern and classic techniques using global flavors to create decadent French and Japanese fusion fare.
On the palate: The chef’s tasting menu includes dishes like aged Wagyu beef, charcoal caviar; king crab; uni cromesquis; golden Osetra caviar; lobster bolognese; black bass a la Vapeur, truffle lobster risotto, truffle-stuffed lamb, duck Rouennaise, yellow peach sorbet and pineapple soufflé.
Cut *
There are plenty of steak houses in Beverly Hills, but none as well-heeled as Chef Wolfgang Puck’s Cut. Located in the classic Beverly Wilshire Hotel, Cut has chic written all over it. You’ll enjoy gazing at the collection of art adorning the walls of the bright and airy dining room. Here, you’ll have the option of choosing any type of steak and where it came from. The selection features five different farms including dry-aged USDA Prime beef from Kansas, grass-fed Angus from outside San Diego, and authentic Wagyu beef from Kyushu, Japan.
Cut was awarded the Michelin star in 2019 securing its rank as one of the finest steakhouses in Los Angeles. In addition to meat-based dishes, Cut also serves shellfish, seafood and has an extensive international wine list. On the palate: Twenty-eight-day wet aged filet mignon with caramelized onions, black summer truffles and field mushrooms or Jidori brick chicken with wild field mushrooms, chicken jus and delta asparagus with parmesan and green garlic. For dessert: Dark chocolate soufflé with espresso ice cream and chocolate sauce.
