Henriot Unveils Rare Vintage Champagne Collection

The famed family-owned Maisons and Domaines Henriot released a vintage champagne collection perfect for special celebrations. Named Les Mémoires, the collection includes three bottles that have been aging for decades in the cool cellars of the champagne house in Reims, France. Vintages hail from 1981, 1971, and 1959.

UNPARALLELED TASTE

Despite their ages, each vintage – taste-tested by the cellar master and vineyard director – is vibrant, lively, and fresh.

“Tasting these treasures brings unparalleled emotion and pleasure,” said CEO and President Gilles de Larouzière Henriot. “Through the release of singular vintages, I am happy to share these ‘Mémoires,’ embodying a piece of champagne’s history.”

The 59 and 81 vintages are prestigious Cuvées, while the 71 is a Millésimé.

THE 59

The 1959 Cuvée Des Enchanteleurs is equally blended from the house’s six historical crus, which have been on the lees for more than 60 years. It offers a fresh citrus bouquet and is complex and full-bodied on the palate, with extended finishes of fig, honey, and brioche. It is US$5,900 per magnum.

THE 81

The Cuvée des Enchanteleurs 1981 is a thoroughbred grand cru aged for 40 years on lees. Due to challenging weather conditions, that year's small harvest yielded high-quality wines. The nose reveals notes of iodine, while the palate is lively yet elegant. It is US$1,026 a bottle.

VILLA IL BORRO

There is no better place to enjoy the latest champagne collection of the renowned Henriot than the luxurious Villa Il Borro. Located in the captivating Tuscan countryside, the villa is a secluded retreat while still being only a short distance from Florence. The exclusive residence has 10 ensuite bedrooms, which can accommodate up to 20 guests in utmost comfort. The superb design gives a sense of timeless, regal elegance. The home includes a state-of-the-art sauna, spa lounge, gym and indoor pool, as well as two study rooms, a charming dining room and a large drawing room perfect for serving the delicious champagne, which you can store in the impressive wine cellar. The villa is surrounded by seven hectares of vineyards and an ornate Italian garden adorned by an exceptional fountain. Here, you will also find an outdoor pool in which you can enjoy the Tuscan sun and the peacefulness of the countryside.

THE 71

The Millésimé 1971 is a marriage of grand and premier crus aged for 50 years on lees. That year, the winter was cold, and a spring frost destroyed or delayed the flowering of much of the champagne. Retailing for US$514, this vintage has aromas including thyme, stone fruit, and pine. It has a persistent finish and a complex palate.

Henriot’s Les Mémoires collection is available nationwide in the US and can be purchased at select fine wine retailers.
