Get Your Heart Pumping with Heli-skiing

When avid skiers want to ramp up their adventures on the slopes, they have a terrific option in heli-skiing.

Heli-skiing is a sport that has been gaining popularity in recent years. It is an extreme form of skiing or snowboarding involving being dropped off on a mountain peak by a helicopter and then skiing or snowboarding down the slope. It provides an adrenaline rush for thrill seekers and is considered one of the most luxurious sports in the world.

Heli-skiing is an exciting way to explore terrain that would otherwise be inaccessible by foot or conventional ski lift systems. It offers unparalleled views and experiences for those willing to take the plunge. From steep couloirs to wide open powder fields, heli-skiing allows you to explore some of nature’s most beautiful landscapes while enjoying all the benefits of winter sports.

History of Heli-skiing

Heli-skiing has been around since the 1960s. The history of heli-skiing dates back to 1965 when Hans Gmoser, a Canadian mountaineer, pioneered modern heli-skiing in Canada’s Bugaboos mountain range. Since then, heli-skiing has become increasingly popular and is now available in many countries around the world. From Canada to the US, Switzerland, France to New Zealand, heli-skiers can explore some of the world's most incredible mountain ranges with experienced guides who know how to navigate these remote locations safely.

With heli-skiing, you can get access to some of the best ski slopes in the world. Whether you are an experienced skier or just starting out, heli-skiing can provide a thrilling and unforgettable experience.

Hans Gmoser

Hans Gmoser was an adventurous Canadian mountaineer who changed the face of skiing forever. He is credited with founding heli-skiing, a new and dangerous way to ski down mountains previously too steep or remote to access.

Born in Austria, Gmoser moved to Canada in 1952 and quickly established himself as one of the most daring and adventurous ski mountaineers in the world. He is best known for his invention of heli-skiing, which he developed in 1965. Gmoser's pioneering spirit helped to make heli-skiing what it is today, and his legacy lives on through this popular sport. Heli-skiing provided an adrenaline-filled experience for those looking for something more than just a leisurely day on the slopes. Gmoser's pioneering vision gave skiers a chance to explore some of the most remote and beautiful parts of the world, while also providing them with an exciting and challenging experience. Despite its dangerous nature, Gmoser remained undeterred in his pursuit of making heli-skiing accessible to everyone. His death in 2020 marked the end of an era in ski history since he was one of the pioneers who pushed boundaries and made it possible for adventurers around the world to experience skiing like never before.
