Skip the tourist crowds and get ready to experience a different side of Hawaii. Don’t get us wrong, the glitz and glamour is an amazing experience. But once you’ve done it all, it’s time to do like the locals do!
Tanioka’s Seafood and Catering
If you are having trouble finding this place, just look for the building with the long line! Everyone knows that Tanioka’s is worth the wait. Their Ahi and Tako Poke are well-known dishes that you must try. The best old-style “cone sushi” in Hawaii can also be found here! You really can’t go wrong with anything you choose.
Yokohama Bay
Avoid all the crowds and enjoy a relaxing day at Yokohama Bay. The glistening water is the perfect temperature for a beach getaway, away from the tourists. We recommend you park near the lifeguard tower and make sure you always have your belongings! Once you get on the beach, enjoy one of the best sunsets in O’ahu.
Bishop Museum
Take the time to learn about the island by strolling through the Bishop Museum. There are observatory programs you will want to check out, and the Sports Hall of Fame behind Hawaii Hall. If you want to see the Kamehameha School campus, the view it just up the mountain! Don’t forget to stop by the gift shop for some “local” souvenirs.
Ka’ena Point State Park
Take a hike on the wild side to Ka’ena Point State Park. If you’re lucky, maybe you’ll spot a Humpback whale or two! It can get pretty hot here, so try to go in the morning or afternoon. Prepare snacks and water for the trip, but make sure not to leave any trash there! We want to make sure the animals are always safe. It’s a bit of a walk, but it is worth the sights you are going to see.
L & L Drive-inn
If you’ve already traveled through O’ahu, then you definitely have passed by an L & L Drive-inn. This fast-food Asian-American BBQ joint is everywhere on the island, and for good reason. It is the perfect place to grab lunch and dig-in to what is considered the epitome of what a Hawaiian lunch plate is.
