A Foodie’s Bucket List for L.A.

Foodies are quaking at the thought of chowing down in Los Angeles. There are just some dishes you can’t get anywhere else -- these are iconic. Though we can’t list EVERY mouth-watering dish for you to try in Los Angeles, here are a few that you can’t go wrong eating.

French Dip Sandwich - Philippe’s

Make a pitstop into Chinatown for the original french dip sandwich. One of Philippe’s specialty dishes, you can decide between roast beef, roast pork, leg of lamb, turkey, pastrami or ham. Whatever meat you choose, it is served on a fresh baked French roll that has been dipped in the natural gravy of the roasts. Add any cheese with the accompaniment of coleslaw, potato or macaroni salad, hard boiled eggs, pickles, olives or hot yellow chili peppers to your sandwich.

Mediterranean Gem Salad - Sycamore Kitchen

If you find yourself in Fairfax, feel refreshed after eating the Mediterranean Gem Salad from Sycamore Kitchen. It includes gem lettuce, radicchio, chicken, hazelnuts, dates, blue cheese, grapes and red wine vinaigrette. It’s the perfect combination of sweet and savory, and you don’t have to worry about getting your protein in!

Pho - Golden Deli

It’s been said that the pho at Golden Deli can cure about anything. You can choose between beef, brisket, rib eye, tendon, trip, chicken or shrimp. Don’t be afraid to add a bunch of toppings, such as bean sprouts, jalapenos and mint leaves. Letting everything soak in will give your pho the ultimate flavor. If you want a little kick, ask for some hoisin and sriracha sauce! After drinking up the leftover soup, you’re going to feel brand new again.

Ice Cream Sandwich - Diddy Riese

When it’s time for dessert, make sure to stop by Diddy Riese, in Westwood, for an ice cream sandwich. The cookies are baked fresh daily with flavors ranging from candy chocolate chip to sugar cinnamon. If you’re feeling crazy, you can pick two different cookie flavors for your ice cream sandwich creation! When it comes to picking your ice cream, choose between classics like rocky road and cookie dough.

Dodger Dog - Dodger Stadium

You don’t need to be a Dodgers fan to appreciate the simplicity of a Dodger Dog. Maybe it’s the feeling of having a hot dog at the stadium, but all we know is that the Dodger Dog is the definition of mouth-watering. You can get it steamed or grilled, with a beef or pork 10-inch hotdog. Don’t forget to load up your dog with ketchup, mustard, relish and sauerkraut!

Whether you are a foodie or not, these dishes should be on everybody's bucket list and will be a pleasure to cross off. If I were you, I would put these dishes on the list over and over again, just for an excuse to come back.
